Cantina Mori Colli Zugna

A RETURN TO THE LAND

.

“There is a return to the land, which is a certainty today”
Quote by Tiziano Mellarini

Cantina Mori Colli Zugna gives special attention to the environment. An innovative winery has been built underground. On the two hectares of land of the premises, almost all of the winery roof has been made with “green roofing”. This is partly covered by the vineyard, which fully respects the original environment, and partly covered by grass, thus “restoring” the winery to the countryside. To cover the roof, the winery decided to use over 6,000 vines of a special clone, the result of a selection carried out by the Istituto Agrario San Michele all’Adige intended to produce grape varieties resistant to cryptogams, which therefore require fewer or no fungicidal treatments. “The heart of Cantina Mori Colli Zugna beats beneath a vineyard and this is a fundamental aspect

, since it confirms the genius of men who were able to spare land for a special purpose.”

A project for high-energy savings with a low level of human activity on the land. The winery has a complex system for the rational use of water, which has allowed a reduction in consumption of 70%. Hot and cold water are ensured free of charge from twelve geothermal probes that heat and cool the office and laboratory areas all year round. A set of photovoltaic panels has also been installed. A special drinking water treatment plant is in operation, which reduces the amount of water taken from the mains water supply.
